Who Am I?
My name is David D. Smith and I am the facilitator of the Jumpstart program. Over the next six weeks, we are going to get to know each other. And you will get to know one another. You will participate in a series of activities designed to help you discover your own motivators and more important, how to use them. You’ll also learn how to present and get comfortable with presenting information to a group.
I have been an educator for over seven years and prior to that I specialized in technology management for several large corporations. My wife and I have five wonderful children in college, high school, middle school, elementary school and pre-kindergarten. As we are both in the educational system, our professional and personal lives revolve heavily around the educational process.
My philosophy:
The following statement from Neil Noddings' Education and Democracy in the 21st Century sums up my teaching philosophy. “Good teaching, like good parenting, requires continuous effort, trusting relationships, and continuity of purpose – the purpose of caring, appreciating human connections, and ideas from historical, multicultural, and diverse perspective.” By exhorting individual strengths and utlizing project based learning, all children have the opportunity to succeed at their highest level.

"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader."
